As ecologists, most of out studies focus on measuring the various scales at which species of special conservation concern can respond to global change, ranging from their physiology and behavior, to the populations dynamics and distribution.
More recently, as second theme in our research has emerged, focused on improving our understanding of inter-specific interactions among mammals and mammalian community dynamics.
Regardless of our ecological focus, as conservation biologists, one underlying lesson we have always abided by is that doing good science alone is not not enough. Science is not conservation. Conservation relies on engaging with stakeholder and decision makers, and training and enabling the next generation to tackle these challenges. Accordingly, our research is increasingly multi-disciplinary, incorporating experts from the social and agricultural sciences to not only improve the conservation impact of our work, but better train the next generation of difference makers who graduate from our lab group.
